We invest in ventures at all stages of their innovation and implementation lifecycle. That could be empowering people and partnerships to unlock innovation; building a new solution; data-led research to evidence what works; or supporting proven solutions to scale up.
Our core investment principles mirror our approach to tackling system-level challenges.
Evidence-based
Informed by primary research, data science, cross-sector expertise, and secondary research in disciplines ranging from neuroscience to behavioural economics. Ventures must have a strong evidence-base of their current, or potential, social impact.
Early intervention and prevention-focused
Together with partners, we identify the earliest intervention point, where a new approach can improve outcomes, and often make significant system savings. Most importantly, it will be designed to improve equality, opportunities - and people’s lives. Capital and capability
We invest in different ways, regardless of the organisation or partner, but driven by building and accelerating solutions that work, at system level.
Alongside our capability for direct capital investment, we look to work with investment partners from statutory bodies to fellow non-profit change-makers and industry where we share a common mission and belief in a specific solution.
We provide seed funding or rapid growth support; or sometimes invest way upstream through our own capabilities, as well as direct capital. We’re agile to invest when we identify a problem that needs deep, data scientific research, or as a convenor to bring the truly influential actors and innovators together.

We don’t run a formal application process. When we create alliances for change, undertake in-house R&D, or uncover something already developed by a business or VCSE (voluntary, community, social enterprise) organisation that’s proving successful in tackling a problem – we invest for impact.
