Our choice of ventures and the support we provide is always directed by primary research and data science, as well as secondary research in disciplines ranging from neuroscience to behavioural economics.
We choose ventures that have a strong evidence-base of their current, or potential, social impact.
Prevention-focused
Our analysis consistently points upstream, to the earliest credible intervention point in any system. Right now, that points us to early childhood. We invest in ventures that prevent harm rather than respond to it, at the earliest stage possible.
Investment process for Scale ventures
Within Scale, we invest in external organisations with solutions that already work but haven't yet reached the scale the problem demands. This is where we invest capital and capability support to accelerate their growth.
We don't run a formal application process. We meet people doing interesting work, through our networks and through theirs.
When we find a venture that aligns with our investment philosophy — prevention-focused, evidence-led, and with a clear line of sight to social impact — we explore whether there's a fit. If we can add genuine value through both capital and capability support, we invest.
